About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Special Attendant to join our team at the Neurodiagnostic Institute and Advanced Treatment Center. As a Special Attendant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents, while also providing support and guidance to help them achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the security and safety of residents, maintaining a calm and orderly environment.
  • Escort residents to and from various activities and therapy areas, ensuring maximum security and support.
  • Assist in the implementation of resident treatment plans, working closely with our multidisciplinary team.
  • Monitor residents during meals, classroom time, and other activities, reporting any concerns or issues to our staff.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions, using de-escalation techniques and approved methods to prevent and manage behavior.
  • Assist residents with daily living activities, such as cleaning and caring for their living areas, clothing, and supplies.
  • Secure doors, search visitors, and operate the radio system, ensuring the safety and security of our residents and staff.
  • Conduct searches of patient rooms, searching for contraband and ensuring the safety of each resident.
  • Provide motivational techniques, counseling, and teaching to help residents develop daily living skills and achieve their goals.
  • Coordinate client activities, adapting treatment plans to meet individual needs and promoting self-esteem and self-sufficiency.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, and at least 1+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Certification in professional rescuer CPR/AED, and specialized knowledge of psychiatric nursing care practices.
  • Ability to write reports and keep records accurately, and respond effectively in emergency situations.
  • Specialized knowledge of behavior modification, self-defense, and restraining techniques, as well as working knowledge of resident behavior and institution procedures.
  • Ability to perform and assist residents in performing housekeeping duties and daily living activities.
  • Specialized knowledge of the principles and methods needed to ensure therapeutic rehabilitation programs, and working knowledge of existing mental health provider systems.
