Key Responsibilities:
Patient Interaction:
- Welcome and prepare patients for imaging examinations.
- Clearly explain procedures to patients, addressing any concerns to ensure their comfort and safety.
- Accurately position patients to achieve optimal imaging results while minimizing radiation exposure.
Imaging Operations:
- Utilize radiologic equipment, including X-ray machines, CT scanners, and MRI systems, to obtain diagnostic images.
- Adjust equipment settings to guarantee superior image quality.
- Adhere to established protocols and physician directives for each imaging procedure.
- Monitor patients throughout procedures to identify any adverse reactions or discomfort.
Radiation Safety Compliance:
- Follow radiation safety protocols to limit exposure for patients, yourself, and colleagues.
- Conduct maintenance and inspections of radiologic equipment to ensure safety and functionality.
- Effectively shield and protect patients from unnecessary radiation exposure.
Documentation and Record Management:
- Maintain precise patient records, including procedure documentation, patient histories, and radiation dose information.
- Ensure all documentation meets regulatory compliance standards.
Quality Assurance:
- Perform routine quality control assessments on imaging equipment to ensure adherence to established standards.
- Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, reporting issues for timely resolution.
Team Collaboration:
- Work alongside radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to discuss patient cases and imaging interpretations.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of imaging protocols and procedures.
Professional Growth:
- Stay updated with advancements in radiologic technology and techniques through ongoing education and training.
- Maintain necessary licensure and certifications as mandated by state regulations.
Qualifications:
- Education: Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- Licensure: Valid licensure or certification as a Radiologic Technologist.
- Certifications: CPR/BLS certification may be required.
- Experience: Previous experience as a Radiology Technologist is preferred but not mandatory, depending on the position and facility.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating radiologic equipment and software.
