Inova Potomac Radiation is currently seeking a skilled Radiation Therapist 2 to fulfill a PRN (on-call) role within our esteemed team. This position offers a flexible schedule to accommodate varying needs.
Qualifications:
- An Associate degree in Radiation Therapy or relevant Certification.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Staff Therapist in a Radiation Therapy department, specifically with linear accelerators and patient simulation.
- American Registered Radiologic Technologist certification is mandatory upon commencement.
- Basic Life Support certification from AHA is required upon commencement.
- A Licensed Radiologic Technologist designation is essential for team members operating in ambulatory settings.
Key Responsibilities:
The Radiation Therapist 2 will:
1. Communicate effectively with patients, families, medical personnel, and healthcare team members.
2. Administer treatment modalities and protocols to accurately set up and deliver radiation treatments daily.
3. Conduct simulation procedures for initial patient setup while ensuring the proper functioning of linear accelerators, simulators, and Computed Tomography machines.
4. Maintain precise records of daily treatments and document any necessary corrections in treatment charts.
5. Ensure that portal verification films are captured at appropriate intervals and recognize the need for adjustments in treatment ports.
6. Prepare immobilization devices as per physician prescriptions.
7. Position patients for the initial definition of tumor volume as determined by physicians.
8. Document or capture patient measurements and machine treatment parameters for dosimetry planning and calculations.
9. Attend departmental in-services, conferences, and meetings to stay updated on new technologies and assist in developing new techniques through research participation.
10. Perform daily quality assurance checks on linear accelerators, simulators, and Computed Tomography machines to verify accurate output of designated parameters.
