Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver therapeutic interventions in accordance with established program protocols and appropriate service delivery frameworks.
  • Review and assess the Individual Education Program (IEP) for each special education student in the caseload at least once a year.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation for all students under care.
  • Complete necessary follow-up actions for students referred for special education services.
  • Engage in regular collaboration with general education and/or special education teachers.
  • Refer students to additional specialists as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all procedural safeguards for students and their families.
  • Implement specialized instructional strategies tailored to meet the needs of the student population.
  • Stay informed about the latest techniques and methodologies in the field of speech and language pathology.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student progress towards achieving established objectives in line with program guidelines.
  • Act as a resource for general education teachers and administrators regarding students with communication challenges.
  • Perform any additional responsibilities as assigned by the Program Specialist for Speech and Language, Director of Special Education, or the Assistant Superintendent for Student Services.
Qualifications:
  • Education and Experience: A Master's degree in Education or a related discipline.
  • Required Certification: A valid Georgia Professional Certificate in Speech and Language Pathology issued by the Professional Standards Commission.
  • Language Proficiency: Ability to understand instructions and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Mathematical Competence: Proficiency in basic mathematical operations and data analysis.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to apply logical reasoning to execute instructions and resolve issues.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and familiar with interoffice software.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Capable of interacting effectively with colleagues, administrators, and students.
Professional Standards:

Must serve as a role model for students, demonstrate desirable personal attributes, and adhere to established standards of professional appearance.

Consistent attendance, participation in meetings, and safe conduct of activities are essential.

Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to walk, stand, and lift; occasional crouching or kneeling is necessary. Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

Noise levels are typically moderate, and frequent travel may involve exposure to traffic and outdoor conditions.
