Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Direction
    • Supervise and direct a team of surveyors in the field, ensuring high-quality work and adherence to company standards.
    • Provide guidance and training to junior staff members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
    • Review and approve work produced by team members to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Operational and Company Level
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients to promote the company's capabilities and services.
  • Do the Work
    • Oversee the day-to-day activities of the survey field crew, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
    • Coordinate with contractors to provide survey services and ensure timely completion of projects.
    • Identify and resolve issues related to property lines and make decisions on how to proceed with surveys.
    • Gather and analyze data to conduct surveys in the most efficient manner possible.
    • Communicate with clients to discuss project progress and requirements.
    • Perform calculations and maintain records essential to survey work.
    • Ensure the assigned survey truck is properly maintained and equipped.
    • Inventory and manage all assigned equipment.
    • Communicate with management to optimize efforts and maximize man-hours.
    Requirements
    • Education and Experience
      • High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree or bachelor's degree preferred.
      • Three or more years of experience working on a land surveying party.
      • Prior Party Chief experience is a plus.
    • Skills and Knowledge
      • Thorough knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
      • Familiarity with field procedures for performing boundary and ALTA/NSPS land title surveys.
      • Ability to perform all aspects of data collection for topographic surveys, road frontage cross-section surveys, and as-built surveys.
      • Knowledge of total station, GPS, and data collection, with the ability to adapt to new equipment and technologies.
      Working Environment

The Survey Party Chief will work in a partly indoor professional office environment and partly outdoor work environment, which may include adverse weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. They will be highly motivated and have a strong problem-solving attitude, with a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
