POSITION OBJECTIVE

The primary aim of this role is to assist students with disabilities, their general education instructors, and ESE teachers, ensuring the successful integration of these students into the general education curriculum.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • This role does not entail any supervisory duties.
  • While fulfilling this position, the Support Facilitator will not be designated as the teacher of record unless instructing a specific Exceptional Student Education course for the full duration of the class or teaching an additional period beyond the ESE Support Facilitator responsibilities. In cases of split assignments, the individual must adhere to the responsibilities of each role as outlined by the local school administration.
  • Participation in Individual Educational Plan (IEP) meetings may be required.
  • Provide assistance to students with disabilities to improve their performance in general education settings through collaborative consultation and co-teaching methodologies.
  • Transition between multiple general education classrooms, collaborating with general education teachers while supporting students with disabilities.
  • Deliver the necessary level and frequency of support based on the needs of general educators and students requiring assistance.
  • Coordinate alternative classroom and testing accommodations for students with disabilities.
  • Assist in the development and adaptation of curriculum and assessment materials to cater to the needs of both teachers and students, including standards-based instruction and modified curriculum.
  • Demonstrate small group instruction techniques to students with disabilities in both general and pullout settings.
  • Offer consultation to general education teachers regarding effective practices for instructing students with disabilities, along with specific differentiated instructional strategies tailored to individual students in accordance with their IEPs.
  • Document services provided as outlined in the IEP for students on the caseload using the District's electronic management system.
  • Prepare quarterly progress reports for students on the caseload in alignment with the conclusion of each quarter.
  • Monitor and assess student progress towards IEP goals through consistent data collection.
  • Ensure compliance with the equal employment and non-discrimination policies of Broward County Public Schools.
  • Engage in training programs designed to enhance skills and proficiency related to job responsibilities (e.g., Florida Inclusion Network/Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources System).
  • Stay informed about current developments, literature, and technical resources pertinent to job responsibilities.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Comply with federal and state regulations, as well as School Board policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the School Principal or designated representative.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Certification by the State of Florida in any area of Exceptional Student Education.
  • Knowledge of regular curriculum, modified (ESE) curriculum, assessments, and classroom accommodations and modifications.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with general educators, parents, and ESE teachers, as well as work alongside regular and ESE teachers in a co-teaching environment across both academic and non-academic classes.
  • Effective communication skills with school staff to facilitate cooperative consultation for fully mainstreamed students with disabilities.
  • Familiarity with various teaching methodologies.
  • Proficiency in technology is required for this position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of successful experience working with students with disabilities.
  • Bilingual skills are advantageous.
FREQUENT CONTACTS

Provide support to general education teachers and students with disabilities to deliver consultative and/or direct instruction as specified in each student's IEP.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as necessary to move objects.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS

Salary and benefits will be aligned with the District's approved compensation plan. The length of the work year and hours of employment will be determined by the School Board.
