Job Overview
Qualifications and Education
Completion of an accredited program in radiologic technology is mandatory.
A minimum of one year of experience in diagnostic imaging is preferred.
Must hold a valid license from the State of New Jersey, Department of Environmental Protection.
Certifications and Requirements
Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers is essential.
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification or eligibility is required; if eligible at the time of hiring, registration must be completed within 90 days.
Position Summary
The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for conducting diagnostic imaging procedures in accordance with established protocols, ensuring high standards of patient care. The imaging procedures include X-rays, CT scans, ultrasounds, MRIs, nuclear medicine, mammography, interventional techniques, and mobile mammography services.
This role requires performing imaging tasks as directed by the physician, demonstrating a competent technical skill level that does not necessitate constant oversight.
This role also supports educational initiatives for students in clinical settings when applicable.
Commitment to organizational objectives is demonstrated through quality service delivery, participation in performance enhancement activities, and fostering teamwork and collaboration.
Licensure
Must be licensed by the State of New Jersey, Department of Environmental Protection for all modalities except Ultrasound, for which ARDMS certification is required.
Experience
Candidates should exhibit the ability to manage multiple tasks with precision in a dynamic environment.
Proficiency in Clinical Applications is preferred at the time of hiring; individuals in this role will receive appropriate training, and competency will be expected within 30-60 days of employment.
State licenses must be renewed annually, and ARRT certifications must be maintained according to the incumbent's birth date.Work Environment
There is potential exposure to hazards associated with the hospital setting, including infectious diseases, blood-borne pathogens, and hazardous materials, including electromagnetic radiation.
This position requires the ability to stand for extended periods; technologists performing MRIs must be able to sit in front of a CRT monitor for significant durations.
The role necessitates considerable physical activity, including pushing, pulling, and lifting patients, with the capacity to lift up to 50 lbs.
