The Residence Hall Coordinator is a key position within the Division of Student Affairs at East Carolina University. As a twelve-month, live-in role, this individual will be responsible for the overall administrative and programmatic aspects of a residence hall housing 275-500 students.
This dynamic leader will foster student and community development by creating a welcoming environment that promotes academic success, personal growth, and social responsibility.
As a member of the Residence Life team, the Residence Hall Coordinator will report directly to the Director of Residence Life for the first year of employment.
Main Responsibilities:- Staff Supervision and Development: Hire, train, and supervise Resident Advisors, plan and implement team-building activities, evaluate and recognize staff performance, develop hall goals and strategies, and assist in Campus Living staff recruitment.
- Student Interaction and Crisis Management: Utilize student development programming to facilitate individual and community growth, motivate residents' involvement with each other and hall activities, implement educational programming, involve faculty in the residence halls via programming, and provide support and counsel to individual students on an ongoing basis.
- Administration and Facilities: Coordinate administrative hall functions, including opening and closings, promote safety and security through development of RA duty schedule and facility walk-throughs, monitor hall budget, attend weekly professional staff meetings, and prepare and submit reports, proposals, and other correspondence to Campus Living.
- Master's Degree: Required in College Student Personnel or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution.
- Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrated knowledge of student development theory, counseling, community development, communication, crisis management, and administration.
- Competitive Salary: Estimated salary range: $40,000 - $43,563 per annum, based on location and experience.
