Job Summary

Sutter Health is seeking a skilled Surgical Technician II to join our team. As a key member of our surgical team, you will be responsible for preparing the sterile field for surgical operations, assisting surgeons in gowning and gloving, and draping patients for surgery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Surgical Preparation
    • Prepare the sterile field for surgical operations, including setup of sterile instruments and supplies.
    • Assist surgeons in gowning and gloving, and draping patients for surgery.
  • Surgical Support
    • Directly support the surgical team during operations by passing instruments and supplies, holding retractors, and anticipating surgeons' needs.
    • Support the functionality of the department by distributing supplies and performing equipment maintenance, testing, and setup as needed.
  • Education and Certification
    • High School Diploma or equivalent education/experience.
    • Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program.
    • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Preferred Experience
    • 1 year of basic clinical and practical experience in a similar environment.
  • Skills and Knowledge
    • General knowledge of surgical tools, procedures, views, and equipment.
    • Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    • Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences.
    • Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
    • General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
    Work Environment

This is a part-time position with a variable schedule, requiring 24 hours of work per week. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, prioritizing assignments and working within standardized policies and procedures.
