POSITION OVERVIEW

The Gastroenterology Physician is responsible for diagnosing and treating patients with gastrointestinal disorders. This role involves developing treatment plans for various conditions affecting the digestive system. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, physician assistants, dieticians, surgeons, pathologists, and pharmacists, the Gastroenterology Physician will serve as a key expert in managing and preventing diseases.

The physician will conduct various diagnostic procedures, such as blood tests, colonoscopies, and endoscopies. Proficiency in performing these procedures and interpreting their results is essential for effectively communicating with patients regarding their health issues.

Essential Qualifications
  • Proven expertise in diagnosing and managing gastrointestinal conditions, with a thorough understanding of the Gastroenterology scope of practice.
  • Experience in performing and interpreting Colonoscopy, EGD, ERCP, and Pathology Results.
  • Preferred experience with ERCP.
  • Training in ERCP, EGD, and Colonoscopies, with a minimum of 10-12 procedures annually.
  • Ability to provide Gastroenterology consultations within 10+ hours of requests.
  • Fellowship or certification from the American Association of Gastroenterology.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with conflict resolution abilities.
  • Ability to work independently.
Required Background
  • Current medical license in California.
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical School.
  • Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine Residency program.
  • Completion of an accredited Gastroenterology Fellowship program.
  • Evidence of ongoing education and professional development to meet licensing requirements.
  • Board Certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine.
  • Subspecialty Certification from the American Board of Gastroenterology.
  • Board certified or board eligible.
