If you excel in the daily responsibilities of configuring, loading, and efficiently operating machinery, this role may be ideal for you. Your primary objective will be to ensure optimal machine performance to meet all production standards in a manufacturing environment, ensuring that every component fits flawlessly into the final assembly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and manufacture machined components on various machines (e.g., Mazak, Haas, JohnFord, Mori-Seiki, Okuma) in accordance with established procedures.
- Accurately load the appropriate programs, fixtures, and tooling.
- Produce high-quality parts that adhere to engineering specifications.
- Conduct thorough inspections of parts and maintain quality documentation as per operational guidelines.
- Ensure maintenance of equipment and supplies within work areas.
- Regularly inspect tools for wear or damage and replace as necessary.
- Adjust zero shifts or references, and set tool registers and offsets.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and request repairs when required.
- Facilitate communication across work shifts by documenting actions and requirements.
- Alert supervisors to any product discrepancies or equipment concerns.
- Consistently follow company policies and safety protocols.
- Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment as per training directives.
- Perform additional assigned tasks as needed.
- Comply with the Barnes Group Code of Business Ethics and Conduct.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in roles that require mechanical skills, including the use of mechanical/air power tools and powered industrial vehicles (e.g., lift trucks).
- Familiarity with computers, electronics, CNC machinery, basic programming, and computer-aided manufacturing.
- Experience in editing and optimizing G-code programs for enhanced efficiency is advantageous.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Mechanically inclined with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Self-driven, team-oriented, and possess excellent interpersonal skills.
- Capability to work independently with minimal oversight.
- Adaptability and strong prioritization skills in a dynamic environment.
- Basic understanding and experience in adhering to safety and health regulations.
- Proficient in basic mathematics and the use of measuring instruments (e.g., Gages, Faro Arm, optical comparator).
- Ability to interpret standard geometric tolerances on blueprints.
- Good physical dexterity.
- Solid computer proficiency.
- Familiarity with multi-spindle/multi-turret machines is a plus.
- 5-7 years of relevant experience.
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Trade School or journeyman experience is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in setting up and operating CNC machines in a manufacturing context.
