The Respiratory Therapist plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care at St. David's Surgical Hospital. As a key member of the patient care team, this individual will coordinate and provide respiratory care services to patients, ensuring their needs are met and their health is optimized.
Responsibilities- Perform patient assessments, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
- Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for and response to respiratory therapy.
- Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
- Assist with placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
- Monitor patients for therapeutic response and notify providers as necessary.
- Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients and respond to emergent patient situations.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment start date.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment start date.
- RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT/RCP) certification.
- Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field.
- State Registered Respiratory Therapist or Licensed Respiratory Therapist.
