Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Radiologic Technologist to join our team at Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems. As a Radiologic Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our imaging department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and complex imaging exams in assigned modalities, ensuring high-quality images and patient safety.
  • Provide patient-centered care, addressing the physical and emotional needs of patients of all age groups.
  • Stay up-to-date with new skills and maintain annual competencies in assigned modalities.
  • Work independently to complete imaging exams based on physician orders, department protocols, and institutional safety standards.
  • Represent the goals, values, and vision of VCU Health System, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, health system policies, and department procedures.
Requirements
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB) or American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) as a Sonographer ARRT(S) or RDMS or CCI certification in Medical Sonography or RDCS certification in Cardiac Sonography or RVT certification as Vascular Technologist.
  • At least one of the following specialty certifications: MRI, CT, PET, ARDMS or CCI or RDCS or RVT-specialty certification, VI or CI or CCI, or Mammo.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification.
  • One (1) year of previous Technologist work experience, with preference given to those with 1-3 years of experience in assigned modalities or previous work experience in an academic medical center environment.
  • Graduation from a JRC Accredited Program in Radiologic Technology or Nuclear Medicine or CAAHEP or CMA Accredited Program in Medical/Cardiac/Vascular Sonography or a minimum of a 2-year JRC Accredited Program in Radiologic Technology or Sonography recognized by the ARRT or Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, JRC-DMS or a Bachelor's degree program in Sonography or Vascular Sonography.
Working Conditions

This position requires prolonged standing, sitting, walking, reaching, and repetitive motion. The team member must be able to lift 20-50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment with frequent and intense customer interactions.

The position requires review, signature, and adherence to supplementary job description and scopes of practice for assigned modality locations. Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with your specific manager or supervisor.

Schedules, including requirements of shift rotations and hours of work, may be adjusted as necessary to meet staffing needs of the health system. Weekend and other after-hours coverage may be required based on workload demand and staffing needs of the health system.

Radiologic Technologists are considered "Essential Employees" who may be required to report to work in accordance with the VCUHS Policy.
