Responsibilities of the Geriatric Nurse Practitioner:

  • Serve as the primary care provider for elderly patients in community and residential care environments.
  • Deliver routine, episodic, and urgent medical care.
  • Collaborate with primary care physicians to conduct regular assessments and evaluations.
  • Design and execute care plans in conjunction with an interdisciplinary team.
  • Communicate effectively with specialists and incorporate their recommendations into patient care.
  • Prescribe medications in line with state regulations and organizational policies.
  • Provide training and support to nursing staff.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to healthcare standards and maintain necessary licensure.

Qualifications Required:

  • Advanced practice nurse with a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and board certification.
  • Current Nurse Practitioner license in Massachusetts.
  • A minimum of four years of experience as a nurse practitioner, including at least one year working with the geriatric population.
  • Experience in an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with managed care environments.
