Aerial Telecommunications Specialist

Omni Fiber LLC is seeking a skilled Aerial Telecommunications Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the construction, maintenance, and operation of overhead fiber telecommunications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and repair aerial telecommunications equipment
  • Safely operate equipment and perform construction tasks
  • Ability to climb ladders, work in a bucket truck, and work aloft on poles up to 40 feet
  • Perform aerial tasks including new cable installs, pole transfers, strand building, cable hanging, and connecting, rearranging, repairing, and maintaining outside cables
  • Attach/detach various hardware to wires, cables, buildings, or structures
  • Read, understand, and interpret field prints to determine work requirements and potential hazards
  • Ensure all installation work meets quality standards and complies with OSHA safety regulations
  • Restore project areas to required specifications
  • Report project progress to the Foreman and manage materials and equipment to avoid work delays
  • Work professionally in, on, and around customer premises
  • Maintain responsibility for all vehicles and equipment under your care
  • Be available for local call outs on weekends and holidays
  • Set up and maintain safe work environments, including using signage, cones, safety barriers, and flagging traffic when necessary

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Experience in telephone outside plant construction or related fields, including the placement of telecommunications cables and fiber
  • Ability to safely climb poles with ladders and work from aerial lifts
  • Previous construction experience, preferably in the telecommunications industry
  • Knowledge of established aerial cable installation procedures and safety protocols
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background check, motor vehicle check, and drug test
  • A valid, unrestricted driver's license
  • Able to perform all duties in telecommunications construction, including pole transfers, maintenance builds, new builds, cable installation, over-lash, and strand construction
  • Must be able to lift/carry 80 pounds regularly as needed, with or without assistance

Work Environment:

The work environment may have moderate to loud noise levels. The role involves outdoor work, exposing employees to various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, sleet, and dust, as well as adverse driving conditions like wet, icy roads, and heavy traffic.

Travel Requirements:

This position includes 80% traveling. Omni Fiber offers free hotel stays and per diem for food cost while traveling.
