Key Responsibilities:

This role involves providing comprehensive support in various accounting functions and ensuring compliance with grant regulations. Responsibilities include assisting the development office with grant submissions, establishing grants in the accounting system post-award, monitoring awarded grants, coordinating compliance reporting with fiscal officers, verifying adherence to reporting requirements, and serving as the primary liaison for faculty and funding partners throughout the grant lifecycle. This position is integral in connecting proposal development with award management.


Essential Duties
  • Assist the principal investigator with subcontractor proposals and agreements.
  • Conduct regular meetings with principal investigators and departmental stakeholders to review grant fund allocations and requirements.
  • Prepare and submit all necessary documentation to funding agencies, including applications, reports, and financial reconciliations.
  • Maintain organized proposal and award files, ensuring effective communication with external funding sources for pre and post-award information.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to manage daily operations of the grant department, ensuring accurate accounting records for each grant.
  • Review compliance requirements for all Federal, State, and foundation grants.
  • Analyze problems by breaking them down into manageable components, assessing costs, benefits, and risks before determining the best course of action.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • At least 6 months of experience in an accounting or finance role, or a closely related field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Possesses the technical skills necessary to perform essential tasks efficiently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Demonstrates the capacity to train or mentor others in technical areas.
  • Ability to gather sufficient information for reliable risk and benefit assessments in decision-making.
  • Effective time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Maintains a positive outlook, even in challenging situations, and encourages others to remain optimistic.
  • Builds strong relationships and collaborates effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
