Primary Care Physician Job Description

At UnitedHealthcare, we're committed to simplifying the healthcare experience and creating healthier communities. As a Primary Care Physician, you'll play a key role in our clinical operations team, providing direct patient care and assessments in the ambulatory healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement patient care plans, providing counseling and education to patients and their families
  • Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic studies, as well as prescribe medications and treatments
  • Refer patients for consultation with specialists, such as dermatology, neurology, and surgery
  • Document patient progress and communicate with the patient care team to ensure successful patient management strategies
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and improve health outcomes
Requirements:
  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.), or M.B.B.S degree
  • Board certification or eligibility in Family or Internal Medicine
  • Active, unrestricted medical license in Louisiana
  • Valid DEA license
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support
  • Board certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
  • 1+ year clinical experience in geriatric, adult, or family practice setting
