Job Title: Lead Patient Care Host/Hostess

Job Summary:

The Lead Patient Care Host/Hostess is responsible for leading and instructing Patient Care Host/Hostesses in serving meals to patients. This role requires strong communication and leadership skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Supervisors in overseeing daily functions of meal service
  • Maintain and improve standards of food preparation and meal service
  • Assist in service recovery issues and document all outcomes
  • Assign tasks to Patient Care Host/Hostesses and Food Service Workers
  • Complete and/or assist in work schedules of Patient Care Hosts and Food Service Workers
  • Open and close the kitchen, taking full responsibility of the kitchen to support a Supervisor when they are out on PTB and ensure uninterrupted meal service to patients
  • Oversee and assign cleaning to Patient Care Host/Hostesses and Food Service Workers to assure that all sanitation and regulatory guidelines are met
  • Responsible for training of Patient Care Host/Hostesses and Food Service Workers, including all diet, safety, and regulatory training
  • Audit all food carts for patient allergies, textured diets/thickened liquids, and prescribed supplements before tray delivery to the units
  • Charge and credit to patient accounts daily tube feeds
  • Act as a liaison between Nursing and Food Service, enabling collaboration between departments for ways to improve meal service to patients

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Six (6) months experience in a hospital Food Service/dietary department (preferably as a Patient Care Host/Hostess), or as a manager of a cafeteria or dining room of a hotel or restaurant
  • ServSafe Certification
