The J51 Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit is at the forefront of managing intricate cardiac cases, including patients recovering from coronary artery bypass surgery, valve repairs, and minimally invasive procedures. This unit also caters to patients with advanced cardiac devices, such as Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD/RVAD) and Total Artificial Hearts (TAH), as well as those transitioning from ventilator support.
We are seeking an **Experienced Cardiac Care Registered Nurse (RN)** who is eager to share their extensive knowledge and expertise with the next generation of nursing professionals. The ideal candidate will possess:
- A valid state RN license and a minimum of three years of experience in a hospital setting at Cleveland Clinic prior to retirement.
- A collaborative spirit and the ability to thrive in a team-oriented atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate coaching, teaching, and the provision of educational resources as needed.
- Conduct assessments and audits of daily nursing practices.
- Coordinate discharge planning needs with the healthcare team.
- Evaluate the educational needs of patients and their families, considering cultural and individual concerns.
- Deliver direct nursing care in line with established protocols and policies.
- Monitor and document patient conditions, ensuring effective communication of changes.
- Revise care plans to meet patient goals and outcomes.
- Administer medications and treatments as per nursing protocols.
- Ensure compliance with physician and nursing orders.
- Document patient and family understanding of educational materials.
- Engage in ongoing professional development through education and clinical practice.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
Certifications:
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required upon hire.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification may be necessary for critical care areas.
- Additional certifications may be required based on specific unit needs.
Competencies:
- Ability to apply critical thinking and make decisive judgments.
- Capability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
Experience:
- A minimum of three years of experience in a hospital RN role at Cleveland Clinic prior to retirement.
- Demonstrated clinical competence and strong communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Capability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and handling patients.
- Corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges are necessary.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids may occur.
Personal Protective Equipment:
