Machine Learning Model Optimization Expert

At Apple Inc., our team is a cutting-edge research and engineering group responsible for developing real-time on-device technologies across various Apple products. We focus on delivering state-of-the-art experiences through technology innovation and collaboration with HW, SW, and ML teams to shape the sensor and silicon roadmap.
As a seasoned Machine Learning Engineer, you will have the opportunity to pioneer technological advancements and contribute to the successful deployment of Apple intelligence. Your primary responsibility will be implementing and delivering optimization techniques that enhance the performance of large language and diffusion models on devices.
We're seeking strong ML software engineers/leaders to drive the development of on-device Apple Intelligence LLM and diffusion model developments. This involves defining and leading the execution of model compression, distillation, and integration into full Apple Intelligence user experiences. You will leverage your expertise in efficient ML model development and passion for shipping machine learning models on device.
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- Advanced Python programming skills
- Experience in developing large computer vision and machine learning models, particularly hardware-aware model optimizations
- A minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience or equivalent academic background
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
- Familiarity with model compression algorithms like quantization, pruning, and distillation, as well as experience optimizing large diffusion models or language models
- An MS or PhD degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry research experience
- Knowledge of hardware architecture, software & hardware co-design, and leadership experience driving large-scale projects
- Exceptional communication skills, strong work ethic, and collaboration abilities
