Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Inspector V to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As an Inspector V, you will play a critical role in protecting the health and safety of Texas residents by conducting on-site inspections and investigations in long-term care facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct on-site licensure inspections, complaint and incident investigations, and annual comprehensive surveys in facilities to determine compliance with federal and state health and safety regulations.
  • Communicate clearly and accurately with others to provide, exchange, or verify information, answer inquiries, address issues, or resolve issues or complaints regarding services provided in Texas long-term care facilities.
  • Conduct exit conferences with facility staff regarding findings and assist in developing a plan to correct deficiencies.
  • Complete inspection or survey reports detailing deficiencies, recommended remedies, and narratives to support regulatory findings.
  • Visit long-term care facilities to verify correction of previously cited regulatory violations.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews of documents prepared by others.
  • Occasionally testify at hearings or in court proceedings to provide information regarding policy/procedures, history, findings, or activities.

  • Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to use the computer for writing reports.
  • Ability to exercise professional judgment and reach sound decisions.
  • Ability to integrate complex regulatory concepts, procedures, or processes.
  • Ability to multi-task and track multiple activities with competing priorities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members and others.
  • Knowledge of program regulations and procedures, and survey techniques.
  • Knowledge of acceptable professional standards of care.
  • Skill in operating personal computers and software.
