Job Summary

Amergis is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Paraprofessional Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our educational staff, you will play a vital role in supporting students with instructional and behavioral needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist students with individualized education plans (IEPs) and provide support in math, reading, speech, and independent skills development.
  • Facilitate teacher-directed learning activities, including lesson plans, worksheets, and reinforcement systems.
  • Accompany students during recess, lunch, and community experiences, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers and other staff members to ensure seamless support for students.
  • Strictly maintain confidentiality regarding student, parent, and classroom information.
  • Assist with activities of prescribed programs, including those written by related service personnel.
  • Support students in developing independent skills through self-care activities, such as toileting, clothing routines, feeding, and personal hygiene.
  • Participate in behavior management techniques as directed by teachers and other school professionals.
  • Assist with clerical duties, including making stimuli, making copies, maintaining a clean and organized classroom, preparing materials, and assignment scoring.
  • Provide assistance with transfers and ambulation as needed.
Requirements
  • Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Participate in Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Hold current CPR certification if applicable.
  • Complete a TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.
  • Meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successfully complete new hire training as applicable to the job site.
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Possess strong communication skills and proficiency in the English language.
  • Demonstrate computer proficiency.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
