Job Summary

The Special Procedures Technologist is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in the Special Procedures department at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. This role requires a strong commitment to maintaining patient safety and adhering to department standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with radiology nurses and radiologists to perform interventional procedures and angiograms.
  • Utilize the Radiology Information System to complete paperwork and document contrast media reactions.
  • Review patient charts to confirm physician orders and follow written or verbal protocols and instructions.
  • Communicate equipment malfunctions and low inventory levels to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Enter radiology and laboratory orders, charges, or credits into the hospital computer system.
  • Educate patients and families regarding exams, treatments, and outcomes.
  • Practice radiation safety according to department policies and adhere to NRC and State regulations.
  • Perform visual preventative safety inspections and report hazardous conditions to appropriate personnel.
  • Present a positive image through personal attire and etiquette.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling to ensure patient care.
  • Use scheduling to maximum efficiency, maintain patient flow, and add scheduling as needed.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology.
  • Previous experience as a registered technologist.
  • Preferred Cardiac Cath experience and/or willingness to cross-train for shared lab.
  • ARRT Registered.
  • BLS Certification required within 6 months.
  • ACLS Certification required within 6 months.
  • Ability to achieve proficiency in the job within three months.
