Youth Dance Instructor

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

As a Youth Dance Instructor, you will teach and develop skills while maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for youth participants.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting with planning and implementing age-appropriate activities
• Following YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies
• Adhering to program standards including safety and cleanliness
• Cultivating positive relationships and maintaining effective communication with parents, children and other staff
• Maintaining an accurate record of all attendees and/or associated progress
• Actively participating in department and branch staff meetings and trainings

Requirements:

• At least 16 years of age
• Ability to work with children of various ages
• Previous experience or background suitable for the position
• Ability to organize and implement age-appropriate/development appropriate program activities
• Complete before first shift: program-specific training
• Complete within 30 days of hire: YMCA cause & culture training; Child Abuse Prevention Training, BLS CPR/AED/First Aid

Indoor/outdoor environment, intermittent sitting, standing, walking, running and play with children required. On-site attendance is required for this position.
