Mohave County Development Services is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Permit Technician to join our team in the Planning and Zoning Division. As a Permit Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with zoning regulations and providing exceptional customer service to the public and other County departments.
Key Responsibilities- Verify zoning and land use requirements for building permits and other applications
- Assist the public with permit applications and answer questions regarding zoning and land use regulations
- Collect fees and enter applications into the ACCELA software
- Issue permits and provide copies to customers, the Assessor's Office, and the State of Arizona
- Update zoning maps and related databases
- Analyze and check submitted permit applications for accuracy and completeness
- Make recommendations to staff regarding the adequacy of submitted documents
- Perform mathematical calculations and verify accuracy of legal descriptions
- Prepare monthly invoices for annually permitted establishments and generate annual permits
- High School diploma or GED
- One year of technical, general clerical support work, and/or customer service experience
- One year of relevant experience in Permitting, Planning, Zoning, Engineering Technician, Building Technician, Title Company, and/or Realtor or related field
- Valid driver's license for operation of motor vehicles on Arizona roads
- Computer literacy to include use of specialized permitting programs, electronic spreadsheets, and word processing applications
This is a full-time regular position with a regular schedule. The successful candidate will be required to work independently and as part of a team, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with County departments, governmental agencies, contractors, and the general public.
