We are seeking an experienced Breakfast Cook to join our kitchen team at Tandem Restaurant Partners.
The ideal candidate will have excellent culinary skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well under pressure. Key responsibilities include:
- Cleaning and Sanitation:
- Inspect and clean food preparation areas, including equipment and work surfaces, to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices.
- Temperature Control:
- Regulate oven, broiler, grill, fryer, roaster, and other kitchen equipment temperatures to ensure food is stored and cooked at the correct temperature.
- Food Quality:
- Check food quality, rotate stock, and maintain freshness by keeping track of old and new items.
- Kitchen Procedures:
- Follow restaurant standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen rules, policies, and procedures.
- Product Responsibility:
- Ensure the quality of products served.
- Inventory Management:
- Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations to support a smooth service period.
- Food Handling:
- Handle, store, and rotate all food products and supplies according to restaurant policies and procedures.
- Food Preparation:
- Turn or stir foods to ensure even cooking, season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment, and bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods.
- Portioning and Serving:
- Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment, portion, arrange, and garnish food, and serve food to servers or guests.
- Quality Control:
- Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils.
- Presentation:
- Follow proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes.
- Preparation:
- Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption.
- Meat Preparation:
- Carve and trim meats such as beef, veal, ham, pork, and lamb for hot or cold service, or for sandwiches.
- Support:
- Assist in food prep assignments during off-peak periods, substitute for or assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods, close the kitchen following the closing checklist for kitchen stations, and attend all scheduled employee meetings and offer suggestions for improvement.
