Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each resident.
  • Provide occupational therapy services, including activities of daily living (ADL) training, to help residents maintain their functional abilities.
  • Collaborate with the occupational therapist and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Document resident progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care.
  • Participate in staff education and training to stay current on best practices and industry developments.

Requirements:

  • Current unencumbered NYS license/Certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Graduate of an accredited school with an Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Good physical health and ability to perform job duties with minimal accommodations.
  • Geriatric experience preferred.
  • Current unrestricted driver's license and dependable transportation.
  • Able to use necessary computer applications.
  • High level of motivation and ability to take initiative.
  • Able to positively give and receive oral and written direction.

Physical Demands:

  • Able to push wheelchairs/Geri-chairs with residents.
  • Able to push supplies on carts weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb/descend stairs throughout shift.
  • Able to reach above and below shoulder height.
  • Able to lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing approximately 25 pounds.

Language Skills:

  • Effective communication in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Additional languages preferred.
