You will collaborate with industry partners and program offices to ensure the success of critical space missions by evaluating and understanding the relevant properties of various components of the solar array and their degradation in the pertinent space environment.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Designing and executing experiments that significantly influence the future trajectory of space photovoltaic and solar array technology for space missions.
  • Integrating hands-on engineering skills with scientific methodologies to lead the design and development of industry-leading capabilities for characterizing advanced space photovoltaic and other energy generation technologies.
  • Utilizing your extensive technical experience to support the development of testing and measurement capabilities to characterize and comprehend photovoltaic devices.
  • Contributing to data management, software analysis, and modeling tools.
  • Effectively communicating technical findings and providing technical consultation to stakeholders and the broader scientific community through presentations and publications.

Qualifications

  • Experience with two or more of the following instruments: solar simulators, Keithley source meter, lock-in amplifier, spectroradiometer, vacuum chamber systems, thermal cyclers for panel life testing.
  • Demonstrated experience using common data analysis tools such as Python, MATLAB, or Origin.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to support customer needs or professional conferences for presenting research results.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, requiring U.S. citizenship.

For the Research Scientist role, the minimum requirements include:

  • Ph.D. in a STEM field or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of experience in conducting photovoltaics materials research or device physics characterization or modeling.
  • Experience in designing and executing experiments by building new tools or modifying existing ones to better understand the properties of electro-optical or microelectronics devices.
  • Experience in managing research projects and collaborating with or leading teams of junior scientists/engineers.

Benefits

We offer a competitive compensation package where you will be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our organization.
