We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at the Department of Civil Service. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of employees throughout New York State agencies.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct medical diagnostic tests on candidates/employees for pre-employment, occupational health, and/or return-to-work physicals.
- Test includes the use of various equipment, including blood pressure cuffs, vision machines, hearing machines, electrocardiography (ECG) machines, respirator fit machines, and spirometers.
- Calibrate and adjust instruments and record test results independently.
- Phlebotomy experience is required.
- Packaging of blood specimens, including chain of custody for blood alcohol.
- Obtaining urine samples for drug testing, including chain of custody forms.
- Filing, copying, data entry, and other clerical tasks.
- One year of full-time experience performing clinical and clerical support activities in a healthcare setting.
- Completion of a college, university, technical school, or vocational school medical assistant program.

- Assists municipal agencies with civil service administration of more than 360,000 local government employees.
- Oversees the Governor's Program to Hire Individuals and Veterans with Disabilities to place individuals with disabilities in State jobs and the New New York Leaders Initiative Student Intern Program.
