Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Branch Estimator to join our team at H.D. Fowler Company. As a key member of our estimating team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality estimating services for our water and wastewater solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete accurate and thorough takeoffs, including specifications, pricing, and freight, to meet deadlines and expectations.
  • Find, qualify, and coordinate upcoming bids within your market, and communicate with the sales team to design and implement successful bid strategies.
  • Follow up on all bids, assist with job tracking, and update the bid board with low bidders.
  • Responsible for completing detailed and itemized material quantity estimates from owner or contractor furnished plan sets.
  • Work with external parties on all aspects of project bidding, including project clarifications, value-added options, and material alternative suggestions.
  • Procedural and reporting compliance.
  • Communicate effectively with consulting engineers regarding project questions and problems.
  • Establish a professional and ethical rapport with key customers, vendors, and internal contacts to understand the overall market picture.
  • Help develop and maintain specification tools and resources for job efficiency and accuracy.
  • Act as a company resource for product knowledge, operational expertise, training, and mentoring.

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years' experience as a waterworks estimator for HD Fowler or a direct competitor, with a proven track record of producing high output of estimating.
  • At least 1 year functioning for HD Fowler as Inside Sales or Project Manager, or equivalent relevant project management experience.
  • Strong math and computer skills, as well as an eye for detail.
  • Good understanding of blueprints, including plan and profile views, elevations, and topographical views.
  • Able to use discretion in regards to pricing tools and general decision making.
  • Can operate within and prioritize under tight deadlines.
  • Able to interact positively with all types of coworkers and customers with effective and professional written and oral communication.
  • Able to operate in a high-paced, demanding environment under a variety of conditions.
  • Can work overtime on an as-needed basis.
  • Able to self-guide work prioritization and completion, with little to no direct supervision.

  • Competitive pay rate of $27.00+ per hour, based on experience.
  • Primarily Monday-Friday schedule, with working hours between 7AM-5PM.
