Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the operation, maintenance, and repair of wastewater treatment plants and related facilities
  • Direct and control subordinate staff, ensuring the efficient and effective treatment of wastewater
  • Develop and implement plans for the revision or addition of plant buildings, structures, equipment, and machinery
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines
  • Prepare and manage the annual budget and expenditures
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant field (e.g., Civil, Sanitary, or Chemical Engineering)
  • Two years of responsible supervisory experience in a large municipal wastewater treatment plant
  • Five years of responsible experience in the operation and maintenance of a large maintenance plant, with two years utilizing the activated sludge process
  • Equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Grade 4A Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate, issued by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to chemicals, noise, and physical demands. A medical examination may be required before appointment.
