Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as an After School Program Leader at the YMCA of Greater Des Moines. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality after-school programs that promote the physical, emotional, and social development of children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of engaging and purposeful activities that meet the needs of program participants.
  • Provide supervision and support to children, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Collaborate with the Site Leader to achieve program goals and objectives.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in a related field preferred.
  • At least 16 years of age (if under 18, must work with an adult 18+).
  • Approval by State of Iowa Licensing requirements, including pre-employment physical.
  • Previous experience working with youth, preferably in a after-school setting.
  • Current Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED certifications or equivalent.
  • Intro to Y's Cause & Culture Online Course completion prior to starting.
Working Conditions

The work environment is typically moderate to loud, with occasional exposure to physical activity. The position requires the ability to work effectively in a team environment, with minimal supervision, and to adapt to changing circumstances.
