Position Summary

The Terminal Operations Supervisor is accountable for overseeing daily yard operations, ensuring a secure and productive environment that aligns with APS East Coast Inc.'s standards and client expectations. This role involves equipment oversight, safety compliance, and direct interaction with customer service to address inquiries and resolve issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all operational equipment is in optimal condition.
  • Manage and nurture customer relationships effectively.
  • Assist in the investigation of incidents and accidents.
  • Ensure adherence to shipping line regulations.
  • Provide accurate cargo handling quotes.
  • Lead, train, and mentor yard personnel.
  • Oversee daily staffing requirements for the workforce.
  • Possess strong knowledge of cargo handling and rigging practices.

Supervisory Role

This position includes direct supervision of team members.

Work Environment

Work is conducted outdoors, subject to varying weather conditions including rain, sun, snow, and wind.

Physical Requirements

Moderate physical activity is required, including the ability to perform administrative and technical tasks. Manual dexterity is necessary for handling equipment and materials.

Position Type

This is a full-time role, primarily scheduled Monday through Friday, with potential for overtime as needed.

Travel Requirements

Minimal travel may be required, not exceeding 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience in a related field is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with intermediate computer operations and software applications, including word processing and spreadsheets.

Certifications

Must be eligible to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
