Job Summary

As a Firefighter (Paramedic) with the City of Montclair, you will be responsible for responding to emergency calls, protecting life and property, and performing daily fire prevention inspections. This role requires a strong understanding of fire science, emergency medical procedures, and effective communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

* Respond to alarms and emergency calls, utilizing fire trucks and equipment as needed
* Participate in daily fire prevention inspections to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
* Collaborate with team members to maintain fire stations, grounds, and equipment
* Perform related duties as required, including training, drill, and independent study activities

Requirements

* Graduation from High School or completion of G.E.D., preferably supplemented by course work in Fire Science
* Possession of a valid Class C California driver's license and proof of insurability
* Current and valid Paramedic license, ACLS certification, and CPR certification

Selection Process

The selection process will include a written examination, oral interview, and paramedic assessment. Candidates must pass a thorough background investigation and pre-employment physical, including a drug screening, prior to hiring.
