Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts Computed Tomography (CT) examinations utilizing advanced General Electric systems, adhering to established protocols and imaging techniques.
  • Executes computerized image post-processing using appropriate reconstruction software tailored to the specific pathology or area of interest.
  • Addresses minor patient concerns and resolves issues tactfully, escalating complex complaints to higher management when necessary.
  • Manages the scheduling of both inpatient and outpatient procedures to optimize the use of CT resources and staff.
  • Performs Quality Assurance evaluations on CT equipment to maintain superior image quality and operational efficiency.
    • Ensures equipment safety through daily warm-up and calibration procedures.
    • Communicates any equipment malfunctions or concerns to the relevant personnel and coordinates with service providers as needed.
    • Maintains cleanliness and proper functioning of diagnostic and support equipment.
  • Collects patient medical history and pertinent clinical information, documenting all details for review by a radiologist.
    • Responsible for processing charges for patient examinations and preparing images and clinical data for radiological interpretation.
  • Initiates IV access using appropriate techniques, prepares and administers contrast agents, and monitors patient status throughout the CT process.
    • Maintains adequate inventory levels of medical supplies.
    • Initiates emergency medical protocols as necessary based on patient condition.

Required Education and Experience:

  • 12-24 months of experience in radiology; must be a graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program; completion of 2 hours of stroke education annually.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive understanding of cross-sectional anatomy and CT methodologies.
  • Proficient in performing all standard CT procedures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; computer literacy is essential.
  • Holds ARRT Registry (RT), IDNS License, CPR certification, and must obtain IV Certification within three months of hire, as well as CT Registration within six months.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Ability to respond to work requests on short notice and flexibility in scheduling to meet operational demands.
  • Capable of transporting, moving, and lifting patients as required; may involve rotating shifts and varied days.
  • Exposure to infectious diseases; must be available for on-call duties and willing to work overtime when necessary.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance; for heavier lifts, appropriate equipment and assistance are expected.

Additional Notes:

  • Engagement in ongoing education, including 8 hours of stroke education annually and participation in seminars related to fire safety, infection control, and radiation safety.
  • Membership in professional organizations to stay updated on industry advancements.
  • Requires strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask, and excellent interpersonal skills in both clinical and non-clinical settings.
  • Must adhere to confidentiality standards and operate under established policies and procedures.
