Job Summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our clinical laboratory team. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for interpreting orders for lab work, identifying the correct tube type for each test, and ensuring patient safety and quality specimen collection.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform blood draws by venipuncture according to standard protocol
  • Collect specimens using appropriate techniques and adhering to requirements
  • Provide patients and/or care providers with instructions and necessary materials for specimen collection
  • Assist with troubleshooting missing specimens and perform data entry functions
  • Release orders on ambulatory health system patients and receive samples in the Laboratory Information System
Requirements
  • High School Graduate
  • Less than 1 year 6 months experience in an internal phlebotomy training program or 1 or more years experience in specimen collection and processing
  • Completion of an external phlebotomy program
  • Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) certification
Working Conditions

This position performs in a fast-paced environment and requires the ability to multitask, troubleshoot difficult orders, and provide excellent customer service.
