Job Overview

The Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance of machinery and equipment within the food processing sector. This position involves a variety of responsibilities that contribute to the efficiency and safety of operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Equipment Maintenance: Conduct regular maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems, including:
    1. Filling machinery
    2. Cooking apparatus
    3. Packaging systems
    4. Forklift operations
    5. Utility services
  • Machine Adjustments: Make necessary adjustments to ensure proper functioning of:
    1. Mechanical systems
    2. Electrical systems
  • Technical Skills: Utilize both electrical and mechanical expertise to manage utility systems effectively.
  • Fabrication Skills: Ability to machine and weld components as needed.
  • Blueprint Proficiency: Competence in reading blueprints, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience with Equipment: Familiarity with pumps, motors, and AC/DC drives.
  • Control Systems: Knowledge of PLC/control systems operations.
  • Precision Tools: Proficient in the use of precision instruments and tools.
  • Boiler Knowledge: Understanding of boiler systems.
  • Sanitary Welding: Experience in sanitary welding practices.
  • Food Manufacturing Experience: Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment is preferred.
Additional Duties:
  • Assist in planning and executing preventive maintenance and addressing non-routine issues.
  • Fabricate and install mechanical and electronic equipment, along with performing program modifications.
  • Engage in safety protocols, compliance, continuous improvement, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as integral job functions.
  • Adhere to all departmental and plant protocols.
  • Support the Maintenance Director by managing work orders through the current CMMS and effectively utilizing the stockroom system.
  • Complete all required training sessions.
  • Participate in cross-training and other assigned work-related tasks.
  • Provide on-the-job training to fellow employees.
Minimum Qualifications:

A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is mandatory.

At least two years of multi-craft/preventative maintenance experience is required.

Must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods.

Flexibility to work varied schedules based on plant requirements is essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in food manufacturing environments.

Familiarity with HVAC systems.

Background in electrical maintenance.
