Job Summary:

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking a skilled Software Developer to support a dynamic Department of Justice customer. As a key member of our team, you will design, develop, refactor, enhance, test, and evaluate software applications hosted on-premises and in the AWS GovCloud instance. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring compliance with government policy directives and guides.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop scalable, user-intuitive, high-quality, and high-performing web applications.
  • Analyze existing systems and collaborate with team members and government personnel to design effective solutions.
  • Develop and enhance business and process changes to applications and systems, coordinating with integrated and non-customer software systems.
  • Work with infrastructure, development, and managerial team members to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Support the government's effort to obtain and maintain an authority-to-operate (ATO) and protect the security posture of program systems and applications.
  • Provide exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including written documentation and instruction to government personnel.
  • Be willing to learn new technical disciplines and become a resident expert within the team.

Requirements:

  • Experience as a front-end software developer in building multi-tier framework software applications using object-oriented programming languages, such as Java and Python.
  • Developing SOAP and REST APIs in a client/server environment, such as Java and Python.
  • Experience writing and evaluating regular expressions, developing, debugging, and/or refactoring code for popular programming languages (i.e., Java, Python, etc.).
  • Experience with scripting command line tools (e.g., Vim, Bash, PowerShell, etc.) to automate command tasks.
  • Knowledge of object-relational mapping (ORM), web-related technologies (HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS), and experience with any major database (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server).
  • Experience in developing cloud-native applications (AWS preferred) would be beneficial.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One (1) or more years of experience with application development leveraging a SQL and/or PostgreSQL database as data storage.
  • One (1) or more years of experience with cloud (AWS preferred) application development and management.

Education:

Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree in Computer Science, Software Development, Information Systems, or a related field of study, or in lieu of education, three (3) additional years of relevant experience.
