Job Summary: Round-Peg Solutions (RPS) is seeking a highly skilled Senior Thermal Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Energy Storage and Power Systems (ESPS) team, you will be responsible for designing and optimizing thermal management systems for our next-generation eVTOL aircraft.
About the Role:
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and optimize electromechanical assemblies for high-voltage components.
- Conduct thermal design and analysis for battery systems powering our eVTOL aircraft, using hand calculations, 1D models, and 3D multiphysics CFD simulations.
- Post-process and report analysis results to support design decisions, optimizing thermal management systems for performance and weight.
- Develop automated simulation toolchains that integrate with aircraft flight physics simulators, powertrain models, and cell electrochemical models to predict battery thermal behavior across various flight scenarios.
- Support the development of system and subsystem-level thermal requirements, ensuring proper flow-down to components and parts.
- Support prototype builds and technology maturation testing to ensure thermal systems meet functional requirements.
- Provide analytical support throughout the product lifecycle, from preliminary design through development, validation, certification, and manufacturing.
- Familiarity with aircraft certification and aerospace development best practices and standards, including DO-160 and DO-311.
