Responsibilities:
The Lead Infusion Pharmacist plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective procurement, compounding, dispensing, and administration of medications, biologicals, and chemicals in accordance with established protocols, state and federal regulations, and departmental policies.
This position entails providing comprehensive drug information to healthcare professionals, patients, and their families, while also functioning as a staff pharmacist. In the absence of the Pharmacy Manager, the Lead Infusion Pharmacist will assume managerial responsibilities, overseeing daily pharmaceutical operations and ensuring compliance with best practices.
Key duties include:
- Supervising and mentoring pharmacy staff, including pharmacists and technicians.
- Managing the daily purchasing and inventory of pharmaceuticals.
- Conducting performance evaluations for pharmacy staff in collaboration with the Pharmacy Manager.
- Maintaining a high standard of pharmaceutical care and patient safety.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a hospital pharmacy or infusion center.
- Preferred experience in oncology pharmacy or completion of an accredited residency program.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy is required.
- Training in compliance with the 340B Drug Program.
- A current California Registered Pharmacist license.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Proficiency in prioritizing tasks and managing time efficiently.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Pharm.D. degree.
- Completion of an ASHP accredited hospital oncology or infusion residency.
- Board Certification as an Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP).
- Experience in retail pharmacy.
