Position Overview

The City of Lynnwood is seeking a dedicated Custodial Technician for a graveyard shift, with hours from 6pm to 2:30am.

The individual in this role will be tasked with performing essential cleaning and maintenance duties across various City facilities. Responsibilities include comprehensive janitorial tasks, ensuring cleanliness and hygiene standards are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute custodial tasks for designated buildings.
  • Vacuum, spot clean, and steam clean carpets; maintain hallways and walkways; clean windows and polish brass fixtures.
  • Mop, strip, seal, and polish floors as required.
  • Dispose of trash and debris; empty waste receptacles.
  • Sanitize restrooms, sinks, and drinking fountains; restock paper products and soap.
  • Dust and clean office spaces and meeting rooms; manage ashtrays and trash bins; organize furniture; clean surfaces including tables, desks, and shelves.
  • Notify management when supplies are low.
  • Maintain consistent attendance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should possess the ability to learn and perform basic custodial tasks. A successful background check is required. A valid Washington State Driver's License with an acceptable driving record is also necessary.

Work Environment and Equipment
Work is conducted indoors utilizing standard cleaning tools and specialized janitorial equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently without constant supervision.
  • Familiarity with cleaning agents and disinfectants.
  • Capability to perform simple, repetitive tasks.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to bend, lift, carry, push, and pull cleaning equipment; move furniture and objects weighing up to 100 pounds; reach overhead.
  • Visual acuity to read written materials.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Capacity to stand for extended periods.
