Job Title: Medical Assistant - Clinical Support

Tennessee Oncology, a leading cancer care specialist, is seeking a highly motivated Medical Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Assistant - Clinical Support, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our clinical team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Measure and record patient vital signs, including height, weight, and temperature.
  • Screen patients for pain, distress, and clinical depression, and document findings.
  • Review and verify medication lists and preferred pharmacy information with patients.
  • Update patient information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) at each encounter.
  • Assist with patient preparation for examination and treatment, ensuring efficient provider workflow and patient throughput.
  • Manage prescription refill extension requests and call in prescriptions/refills as needed.
  • Assist with telephone triage, returning phone calls and adhering to approved protocols.
  • Support provider-performed procedures, including bone marrow biopsies and skin biopsies.
  • Prepare and administer approved medications, including ID, SQ, IM, and PO medications.
  • Access and flush implanted ports, collect laboratory specimens, and assist with patient education.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of Medical Assistant Training Program or 6-months recent Medical Assistant experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Medical Assistant Certification preferred (CMA, CCMA, NCMA, NRCMA).
  • Current TO-approved BLS provider card required within 3 months of hire.
