Responsibilities:

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Safety and Security Specialist is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment across all UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Hospital properties.
  • Contribute to the development of security protocols that address the daily physical security requirements of the healthcare facility.
  • Exhibit initiative to enhance quality and customer service by striving to exceed expectations; demonstrate strong public relations skills, including active listening, providing clear explanations, accurate directions, and maintaining a helpful demeanor.
  • Establish and nurture professional relationships with patients, visitors, staff, and medical professionals.
  • Collaborate effectively with external law enforcement agencies.
  • Conduct patrols of the campus grounds and buildings, either on foot or via mobile patrol, in all weather conditions.
  • Monitor individuals accessing the property to ensure they have legitimate reasons for being present.
  • Communicate daily security activities to the Emergency Communications Center (ECC) for proper documentation.
  • May be required to serve as a dispatcher in the ECC as needed, responding to both emergency and routine service requests.
  • Document relevant incidents, conduct investigations as necessary, and monitor security cameras and other equipment as directed.
  • Consistent execution of these responsibilities contributes to the UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Hospital goal of delivering quality patient care while ensuring a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding patient and hospital information.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license for work-related driving.
  • Fluent in reading, writing, comprehending, and speaking English.
  • Exceptional communication skills are essential.
  • Able to interact effectively with all customers, including associates, patients, physicians, and the public.
  • Capable of performing duties in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse professional, educational, cultural, and lifestyle backgrounds.
