Job Summary

As a Precision Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining precision machinery such as 3 and/or 5-axis mills, rotary tables, and surface grinders. Your role will involve ensuring the highest quality standards while meeting production targets. This position operates on the third shift (11:30 PM - 6:00 AM), offering a unique opportunity for those who thrive in a focused, overnight environment.

Shift Details

The third shift is a 7-hour workday compensated at 8 hours. A shift differential of $3.00 per hour is provided for working this schedule.

Training Requirement

Successful candidates must be willing and able to undergo initial training on the first shift for several months before transitioning to the third shift.

Essential Functions

  • Execute precise machine setups and wheel changes within designated timeframes.
  • Maintain meticulous records of quality control, production output, and tooling calibration.
  • Ensure adherence to productivity, utilization, schedule, and quality standards.
  • Conduct inspections of non-certified operators' work.
  • Provide support in training new Machine Trainees.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure optimal machine performance.
  • Uphold 6S principles and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Achieve and sustain certified operator status.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred. Trade school certification is a plus.

Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in basic mathematical operations, including decimals and fractions; ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to make independent decisions regarding machine setup and operation sequences.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards.

Experience

  • Two years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting, preferably involving precision machining operations.
