About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled MRI Technologist to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for operating magnetic resonance (MR) equipment to perform diagnostic procedures, ensuring high-quality images and excellent patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate MR equipment to perform diagnostic procedures, including angiography, thoracic, abdomen, venous, cardiac, functional MRI, gated, interventional, breast MRI, fetal MR, and spectroscopy.
  • Obtain medical history from patients, compare requisitions to physician's orders, and prepare and administer contrast media under the direction of the Radiologist.
  • Position patients and select proper scanning factors, adjust factors to attain the appropriate images, and provide magnet protection and safety in accordance with regulatory agencies.
  • Post-process images as directed and accurately identify and label images, including patient name, medical record unit (MRU) number, and location or position of scan on all images.
  • Maintain records in accordance with various regulatory agencies and enter patient and study information into the radiology information system, and document billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.
  • Identify equipment performance issues and perform equipment quality assurance tests and calibration procedures, reporting malfunctioning equipment to appropriate staff and evaluating new products and equipment.
  • Serve as a technical resource, role model, and/or preceptor for students and staff, and act as a resource to staff at own facility and throughout the system.
  • Facilitate clinical problem solving and collaborate with other departments to provide education on managing patients after procedures and any other imaging department processes and procedures.
Requirements
  • Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) registration and certification issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) certification issued by the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT), or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) certification issued by the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT), and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.
  • Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Radiologic Technology.
  • Typically requires 2 years of experience in a MRI Technologist role.
Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders frequently throughout the workday. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance. Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present. May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, and magnetic hazards as well as blood and body fluids; therefore, personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.
