Job Title: Advanced Practice Professional

We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced Practice Professional to join our team at University Health Associates. As a key member of our neurosurgery department, you will play a critical role in providing comprehensive care to our patients.

Job Summary:

The Advanced Practice Professional will be responsible for coordinating and providing individualized care to neurosurgery patients, including biological, social, and psychological assessments. You will work closely with medical specialty teams to develop comprehensive plans of care and participate in directing that care. Additionally, you will perform diagnostic/therapeutic procedures, coordinate discharge planning, and participate in the education of residents and medical/nursing students.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage comprehensive and individualized care for neurosurgery patients and their families in the inpatient phase of hospitalization and immediate post-discharge and in the ambulatory setting.
  • Complete daily rounds, consults, and/or pre-procedure/evaluations and ongoing follow-up in the ambulatory setting.
  • Complete integrated assessments and order additional tests or consults as deemed appropriate.
  • Perform and communicate results of diagnostic tests following established clinical guidelines and scope of practice.
  • Consult and communicate with clinic and hospital staff regarding abnormal findings in the evaluations of patients.
  • Perform succinct comprehensive clinical evaluations and document findings in medical records.
  • Facilitate patient discharge by coordinating appropriate services and tests prior to discharge necessary for outpatient follow-up appointments in the clinic (as applicable).
  • Develop a comprehensive individualized plan of care for neurosurgery patients, which includes teaching, discharge planning, follow-up, and necessary referral to other members of the healthcare team as necessary.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with Master's Degree in Nursing.
  • National Certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers.
  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure, as a professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in West Virginia.
  • BLS Certification required with additional Advanced Life Support training at the discretion of the department.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's level degree as Physician Assistant preferred.
