Position Summary: We are in search of a seasoned Credit Risk Underwriter who will be instrumental in shaping our underwriting strategies. This role involves the thorough evaluation of funding requests, financial documentation, credit histories, and other pertinent information to determine the creditworthiness of eCommerce sellers seeking financial support, utilizing our advanced technology and data analytics capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize our technology and data analytics tools to assess funding applications from eCommerce sellers, analyzing financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant documents to establish creditworthiness. Oversee the complete underwriting process from initiation to funding.
  • Consistently apply underwriting guidelines and policies, integrating best practices from the fintech sector to evaluate funding applications and make informed decisions within established approval limits.
  • Collaborate closely with sales, product, and other departments to gather necessary information and ensure precision in the assessment of funding applications, fostering a culture of innovation and teamwork.
  • Investigate and assess potential new data sources that could enhance credit assessment strategies in partnership with the data and risk management teams.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, lending policies, and industry regulations in all underwriting decisions, while remaining informed about the latest trends and requirements in the field.
  • Conduct regular credit reviews to monitor credit quality, identify potential risks, and refine our underwriting processes.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of underwriting decisions, prepare analytical reports, and provide insights to senior management, leveraging our data analytics tools to drive ongoing improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, statistics, computer science, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in underwriting roles, preferably with a focus on eCommerce sellers and fintech solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of lending principles, credit risk evaluation, and underwriting processes, with a keen interest in utilizing technology and data analytics.
  • Proficient in analyzing financial statements, credit reports, and related documentation, with experience in data analytics tools and platforms.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory guidelines and compliance requirements in the lending sector, particularly in fintech.
  • Exceptional analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach.
  • Capability to work autonomously, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including technology and sales.
  • Experience with SQL and data analysis is preferred.
  • Significant advantage: Proven experience in collections management and familiarity with collection laws and regulations.
