Position Overview
Carpinteria Middle School is seeking qualified Advanced Educational Support Specialists to assist our Special Education program across various classrooms.
The working hours will be determined by the site administrator, typically aligning with the school day from Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities:
* The Advanced Educational Support Specialist is a pivotal role in providing instructional assistance to educators. This position is primarily focused on supporting students with diverse learning needs, including those in specialized programs.
* Specialists will engage closely with small groups or individual students, implementing tailored lesson plans and strategies designed to enhance learning outcomes.
* Develop and prepare instructional materials and activities that align with the curriculum to facilitate effective learning experiences.
* Collaborate with educators and program administrators to assist in the organization and delivery of professional development sessions. Participate in meetings to share insights and updates regarding assigned programs.
* Work in partnership with teachers, specialists, and families to establish and assess educational goals for individual and group learning.
* Administer assessments, score tests, and maintain accurate records to support teachers in tracking student progress.
* Mentor and train fellow instructional support staff in administering assessments and recording results. Assist in the reclassification of students based on their proficiency levels.
* Supervise classroom activities during teacher absences and ensure student safety while transitioning between locations.
* Utilize positive reinforcement techniques to motivate students and maintain an orderly environment.
* Report on student academic performance and behavioral progress to educators, documenting achievements and areas for improvement.
* Engage with educators and support staff to identify resources and materials that meet the diverse needs of students.
* Assist in the preparation and organization of training sessions for program staff.
* Maintain comprehensive records and files related to classroom activities and student progress.
* Provide administrative support to educators, including managing supplies and resources necessary for instructional activities.
* Review and manage requests for instructional materials and equipment to enhance educational programs.
* Support student safety during transportation and meal times, adhering to health and safety protocols.
* When working with students with significant disabilities, provide necessary assistance with personal care and hygiene as required.
This role requires the ability to work effectively in both indoor and outdoor settings.
Applicants should possess a high school diploma and have at least one year of experience in educational or childcare settings.
