Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a Linux/Redhat Systems Administrator for classified projects.
- Serve as a Windows Systems Administrator for classified projects.
- Ensure the seamless operation of all computing infrastructure in a multi-user environment, collaborating with systems, software, and electrical design engineers, Information Systems Security Officers, and other IT professionals.
- Evaluate customer requirements and determine necessary equipment and software for effective solutions.
- Recommend and implement system improvements to enhance performance and reliability, including installation, upgrades, monitoring, and configuration management.
- Manage backup and recovery services, data storage devices, and routine updates for virus and malware protection.
- Create and maintain user accounts and manage file permissions and security access.
- Test new product releases for compatibility and minimal user disruption.
- Document technical processes and procedures as required.
- Advise on hardware, software, and system component purchases.
- Engage with vendors to troubleshoot issues and evaluate their products and services.
- Adhere to stringent Information Systems security protocols.
- Deploy new STIGs and collaborate with IT/IA to develop Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) for unresolved vulnerabilities.
- Understand and apply risk mitigation strategies in accordance with RMF & DoD JSIG standards.
- Maintain security audit logs for all classified systems as directed by security officers.
- Prepare necessary security documentation for compliance.
- Report on project status for all ongoing efforts.
- Work independently with minimal supervision to devise and implement solutions.
Qualifications:
Basic Requirements for Level 3:
- Associate's degree with 7 years of experience, Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience, or Master's degree with 3 years of experience; a High School diploma or equivalent with 9 years of experience may be considered.
- Associate's degree with 11 years of experience, Bachelor's degree with 9 years of experience, or Master's degree with 7 years of experience; a High School diploma or equivalent with 13 years of experience may be considered.
- Must possess a current DoD Secret level security clearance or be enrolled in the DoD Continuous Evaluation Program (CEP).
- Required to obtain a Special Access Program (SAP/SAR) clearance within 9 months of hire.
- Must hold IAM Level I certification (e.g., Security+ CE) or higher on the first day of employment.
- Experience managing Redhat Enterprise Linux OS and Windows Server OS.
- Familiarity with DoD STIGs and related security protocols.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field.
- Active DoD Top Secret security clearance.
- Experience with NISPOM, RMF, STIG, and related information system environments.
- Proficiency in configuring and maintaining networked computer hardware.
- Understanding of networking principles, including subnets and routing.
- Experience with Windows AD, LDAP, VMWare, and SAN storage systems.
- Knowledge of environmental monitoring tools.
- Experience with system image creation and deployment in enterprise settings.
- Familiarity with the Certification & Accreditation process.
- DoD 8570 Certification in a primary OS.
