The YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Basketball Official to uphold the integrity of our basketball games. This role requires a thorough understanding of the YMCA Basketball League rules, which are primarily based on High School regulations with specific adaptations.
Key Responsibilities- Enforce game rules and maintain a fair playing environment.
- Manage scorekeeping, statistics, and scoreboard operations as necessary.
- Arrive at the venue 15 minutes prior to scheduled games.
- Follow detailed directives and instructions from league coordinators.
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Resolve disputes and conflicts in a professional manner.
- Assist in the preparation and cleanup of the gym before and after games.
- Ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- CPR and First Aid Certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment and maintained through ongoing training.
- IAABO Certification as a Basketball Official with a minimum of 2 years of experience is mandatory.
- Familiarity with High School Basketball rules in Massachusetts is essential.
- Ability to manage scorekeeping and statistics as needed.
